Event Description:
Mark your calendars. Back from vacation! Back to school! And back to the first fall meeting of the HSC Forum on Wednesday, September 8th!

The Human Services Coalition Forum on Wednesday, September 8th, features the rapidly changing world of transportation in Ithaca /TC, with Fernando de Aragón , Executive Director, ITCTC (Ithaca-Tompkins County Transportation Council); Dwight Mengel, Chief Transportation Planner, Department of Social Services, Tompkins County; Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit Representatives (TCAT); and Jennifer Dotson, Ithaca Carshare. Other transportation agencies/ programs will be in attendance and will provide updates. Questions & Discussion will follow.

The meeting will be held from 8:45 to 10:15 AM at Cornell Cooperative Extension, 615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca. Those in attendance will also have the opportunity to announce coming events and share items of interest to the local human service community. The Human Services Coalition, acting in its role as the umbrella agency for local health and human service providers and planners, sponsors this monthly forum to provide the opportunity for an open exchange of ideas and information. A variety of topics and speakers are featured and all who are interested in human services and their efficient delivery are urged to attend.

The 12th annual AIDS Ride for Life is a fund raising bicycle ride around Cayuga Lake to benefit AIDS services and education through the Southern Tier AIDS Program.

Title: 2010 AIDS Ride for Life Volunteer

Sponsor Organization: Southern Tier AIDS Program, Inc.

Opportunity Description:
Community volunteers are essential for the success of this inspiring and memorable annual event. Volunteers are needed at various pit stops around Cayuga Lake and/or at Cass Park and Stewart Park to support riders with food, beverages, massage, cheerleading and medical attention. Volunteers are also needed to set-up and clean-up the various pit stops. Each volunteer receives a ticket to the victory dinner celebration at Stewart Park at the conclusion of the Ride.


Preferred Skills:
Some general volunteer experience is helpful. Some volunteer tasks (i.e. medical assistance) require specific training.

Task Force members will also have the opportunity to make brief announcements and share items of interest to the local human service community. All interested parties are encouraged to attend. Family Reading Partnership's Kids' Book Fest

Kids Book Fest is a free event for families with young children. Families enjoy activities, arts and crafts, and entertainment all based on childrens books!
